I’m back!
If there happen to be any dedicated fans of this blog out there, don’t worry because I am back after a crazy week of choral performances and choral rehearsals. My mid-terms are also done now, which is completely nice.
So I discovered a new choral group in the city yesterday, and I am excited to hear more of their work! The Philadelphia Choral Arts Society performed in University City yesterday, and the performance was so good that I was pretty much brought to tears. If you aren’t familiar with the music of Eric Whitacre, then you are missing out on some truly beautiful choral music. He has some of his music on myspace, but hearing it on a recording doesn’t do the music justice. Choral music is a live art. Recordings do not even come close to capturing the true beauty of choral music, and I don’t think they ever will. So much emotion is communicated through the conductor and the singers, and so much of the sound of the human voice is lost when you do not hear it in person. We all know what it is like to communicate with our loved ones over the phone, and how it’s just not the same as communicating with them in person. I digress. What I am getting to is that the Choral Arts Society performed an entire program of Eric Whitacre’s music, and it was beautifully performed.
