whew!
Spring semester is finally here! After a five week winter break! Alright, I know what you are thinking, enough exclamation points. If you haven’t learned that already, the exclamation point is my favorite punctuation mark. Sometimes my friends feel like I am shouting at them when I talk to them electronically. However, in my mind, the exclamation point is a way of expressing enthusiasm and excitement. So when I say “whew!” I mean it in the most positive sense, and I put that as the title of this post because it’s the first word that came to mind in regards to the past few days. The first week back is always tremendously busy. I have been running around non-stop for the past four days without much of a break. I have been busy going to classes, purchasing books, visiting friends, doing homework, playing ultimate, singing, playing rock band, playing actual guitar, singing more, watching movies (I saw Across the Universe for the third time last night), and the list goes on and on.
I need a new paragraph for this one. My classes this semester are wonderful. My conducting professor is incredbily talented and experienced, my music theory professor is one of the best teachers I have ever encountered, and I officially have a new favorite class…(insert drum roll here)…and that class is Music Learning Theory or MLT. It doesn’t sound like anything exciting, but we had our first class today and trust me, it’s exciting. I am finally starting to delve into the “education” portion of my “music education” degree. The course focuses on how young children learn music. Our professor showed us some examples of music lessons for children, and the exciting part is that she had us be the children. We sang a song to learn everybody’s name, and we also did some music and movement exercises, aka dancing! It was really refreshing to be out of a desk and moving around for once.
A friend of mine currently has my camera. So when I get that back, the spring semester pictures will commence. And what an exciting spring it will be.

Hey Cory,
